3 Days Kayaking-Nam Ha & Namtha Rivers

Trip Overview:
This trip is the visiting villages community, multi-culture, and way of life of minority group in the Nam Ha NPA, Northern of Laos, Experience in two rivers (Nam Ha and Namtha river) as you tackle one thrilling rapid after another, set against a backdrop of dramatic natural scenery at the heart of the NamHa NPA. During the wet season the Namha River is one of the fastest flowing in Luang Namtha province. face on new adventure outdoor from your home by spending two nights at a homestay or eco-lodge as a guest of the Khmu people at two separate and unique villages. Inspecting the enchanting natural of NamHa NPA which include wildlife spot in the riverbanks and enjoy local food with nature agamic growth, prepared by your guides and family where you stay with.

ITINERARY:
Day 1: (Luang Namtha-Tasae-Nalan)
At 9:00 am, meet the guide and driver at the office with briefly each other introduction before driving to the morning market to buy food supplies, then move to the kayaking start point, then get some basic instructions on kayaking techniques and safety before we begin paddle downriver through the agriculture land of Khmu people, almost immediately, we find ourselves surrounded by lush tropical forest fishing high from the riverbank on either side. On the river we encounter a series of rapids, all set against the backdrop of stunning natural beauty. Picnic will be preparing on the way (if no rain). At around 3:00pm we will arrive to the village, so you can take the free time to survey the village, meet people or swim and dinner is saved by the family before traditional performance.

Day 2: (Nalan-Nam Khoy-Huaylued)
Breakfast and coffee or tea is freshly made by the family who we stay with, then enjoy Khmu people demonstrate how to hunter by traditional way, how to grind the rice before cook. After breakfast we meet up at the riverside and begin paddle down the glorious river and soon find ourselves speeding through the first few rapids. We stop off further downriver to visit another charming Khmu tribe at Nalan Tai village and enjoy another delicious Lao picnic lunch. Back on the river take time between tackling each exciting rapid to watch dramatic scenery unfold, as steep jungle-covered hills rise almost vertically on each side. We land at the picturesque Nam Koy village of the Lantan people where you can learn about their unique methods of natural dying and bamboo paper making. The current quickens and we join the mighty Namtha. Further down river, we stop to visit Khmu people before reaching the Khmu village of Ban Houylued and overrnight in the eco-lodge next to the river.

Day 3: (Huaylued-Hatyong-Sinoudom-Hat Naleng)
The alum clock is a sound of everyday village life with a warming Lao breakfast and hot drink in the morning.  Then we get back on the water and start paddle downriver beside a rich mosaic of exquisite lands and secondary jungle. Along the way we have the chance to stop off at delightful Khmu village of Ban Hat Yong and Lao boat village of Ban Sinoudom. After paddling further downriver enjoying the passing scenery we soon come upon a scenic riverside where we stop for a mouthwatering Lao picnic. After lunch, keeping on kayak and the waves will carry us through several dramatic rapids until Hat Naleng village at approximately 3:30 pm. So a driver will for us and bring us back to the city.

Note: Nam Ha is best for Kayaking from July to Nov. Low water levels from December-June may make kayaking rocky.

  • Do not remove any archeological remains from the site of the ancient temples.
