Nalan Trail 2 Days Trek Nam Ha NPA

Trip overview
This is exciting and popular choice, amazing trek through beautiful jungle with great view, enchant of the nature under the canopies of old-growth trees in Nam Ha NPA. visit the remote countryside of Khmu which the village awarded ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism 2018 to learn about their lifestyle, culture, traditional and enjoy large of tourism activities offered by community and stay overnight in the Khmu homestay.

Itinerary
Day 1: Doiluckkham-Nalan village
To begins the trek is at the same place as one day trek at Doiluckkham, approximately 20 km away from Laung Namtha town. From here the trail ascends through 20–30-year-old secondary forest until emerging into the upland rainforest of Nam Ha NPA. The path offers great views as it levels out along a ridge before re-entering the forest. The trees here are much older having long being a major part of the natural history of the area you are trekking through. A tasty Lao-style picnic lunch is enjoyed in the cool upland forest or in the shade of a thatched farmer’s hut. After lunch we continue the hike for 2-3 hours, as the trail courses beneath the canopies of impressive old-growth tree, so we will be arriving to the village before sun sets. After check in your homestay, you have time to walk around the village and learn about their lifestyle, culture and traditional. After dinner on local food, you will enjoy tourism activities offered by community. 

Day 2: Nalan-Chalernsouk village or (Nalan-Nahome-Namlue village)
In the morning we still have time to visit the village, test Lao Coffee or local tea by bamboo cup, and get a chance to practice cross bow shooting and rice ponding by hand.

After breakfast, on this day we have two options as:

The first option (3-4 hours hike) by hike uphill through forest. Traditional lunch will be prepared end of Nalan village’s responsible route on the forest path. Thereafter, we will have an easy two-hour hike down the mountain slope until we arrive at the Chalernsouk village, where our tuk tuk driver will be waiting for us and shuttle the group back to Luang Namtha.

The second option (5-6 hours hike) follow the Nam Ha River to Nahome village and through the open cultivated areas of the Khmu and Lanten minority group. Lanten is a minority group who still wear traditional clothes, make their own textile, and do natural color clothes dyeing and bamboo paper maker (according to the season). After lunch and visiting the village, we take gradually hike up to steep hill into the jungle, the trail is more challenging, but it is also more and more beautiful forest, landscape, and canopy. The final descent takes the group past upland cultivated areas tended by the people of Namlue village. The trail steepens here and can be slippery after rainfall.  And that is where we end our trek and return to Luang Namtha in the afternoon by Tuk Tuk.
